Qian is a Ph.D. candidate at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, working with Dr. Park Williams. Her research focuses on understanding wildfire dynamics in the Western United States under a changing climate, with a specific emphasis on forest biomass, reburning, and fuel moisture. To investigate these processes, Qian integrates remote sensing data, climate reanalysis, and observational data using machine learning models. She completed the first three years of her doctoral studies in the Geography Department at UCLA and is currently finishing her research at Scripps.
