Jon Henn

Jon Henn is an Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He is a plant ecologist and his group studies the ecology of grasslands, from the role of disturbances such as fire and grazing to how we can restore and manage these systems to build and maintain their diversity, functions, and ecosystem services. He is particularly interested in how we can best live with fire in grassland ecosystems, where fire is often critical for maintaining ecosystem integrity but can also have devastating consequences for human communities when it occurs under extreme or unexpected conditions. A central goal of his research is to generate knowledge that can directly support and inform on-the-ground land management.
