Crystal Raymond

Crystal Raymond bridges the gap between fire science and the people who make decisions about managing fire and forests. As Deputy Director of Policy and Management for the Western Fire and Forest Resilience Collaborative, she connects the Collaborative’s scientists with policymakers and resource managers, so research turns into action. For more than 15 years, Crystal has worked where science meets management, in local government, federal government, and academia as a research scientist with the Climate Impacts Group at University of Washington. She specializes in co-producing research on climate impacts, ecosystem resilience, and fire ecology with natural resource practitioners. She’s driven by a belief that science should help solve society’s biggest challenges, including learning to live with fire in a rapidly changing climate. Crystal holds an MS and a PhD in fire ecology from the University of Washington. She lives in North Bend, Washington, with her husband and two kids, who share her love of exploring Pacific Northwest forests.
